Default vin numbers

good day,

I just purchased a 1985, 41 foot Corsa, I am trying to ship it back to the Virgin Islands, but the vin number is long gone, does any one know how I could some how track it down or find a vin number from that year to recreate one.

Depending on where you purchased the boat from it should either have a title issued by the state it was in or state registration papers showing the VIN on there along with year make and model.....
Then you can make a stainless plate with the numbers stamped on there and then riveted on the hull or better yet take a Dremel tool and grind the numbers in by hand....seen that on a few fountains

some boat have the HIN in multiple locations, upper right transom, under the rub rail and possibly under the dash area, you have no paper work with this purchase ?

we created a bill of sale but like I said the vin number is long gone as the boat was sitting amongst the trees for many years, no sign of it

then you would either need to go to the state it in right now and have them issue a vin as a home made boat....or register it as such in your location....Assuming there is no VIN to be located anywhere...
May need the cops to come by and look it over to make sure its not stolen...

Never have I seen a boat that didn't have the HIN embossed in the transom area at some place...typically the upper right side.
How do you know it's a 1985 model?
For that matter, how do you know ANYTHING about the boat?

Wally makes good points in the posts above...
How the hell was it even ever registered? Sounds really flaky and suspicious, could be stolen, could be a rip-off of real Corsa, often referred to as 'splashing', where a mold is made from one boat and then copied and sold AS that manufacturer by lowlife, fly-by-night scum.
Far too many 'what the hells?' here.
