Default Fun Way To Flush Away Saltwater?

Let's say that instead of spending an hour+ flushing a boat and trailer after each ocean outing we trailer the boat to a nearby freshwater lake, rip around a little bit and back the trailer in and out a few times. Wouldn't that be a much more efficient and fun way to get the job done?

I have a friend that used to do that here in the St Johns. For me I have salt-a-way plumbed into my dock on each side with bypass valves, start flushing the drives before we unload, already have a wash bucket ready. While the wife is putting things away I flush and wash the boat off. Done in 30 min.

One thing, I use a mixture of dawn and salt-a-way, plus feed the motors by both the fresh path and through the salt a way mixers, those things restrict the flow way to much.

Yeah probably won't matter, after the 3rd or 4th dip in salt water the boat will be ready for craigslist and somebody will post it on the CL thread here as a ratty project boat!

My guess, you won't want to kill the time to re-launch after a day of boating. Salt ramp is 3 miles from my house, fresh ramp is less than 1.5. Not once have I ever left the salt ramp and gone over to the freshwater ramp to dip/flush. I can flush the motor while washing the boat or cleaning out the day's stuff.

That’s what I use to do
never even take it off the trailer
just back in the water and let her run

my thinking was the trailer would get cleaned better than I could with a hose

That's an idea too. The Donzi is closed cooled so I'm rly just flushing the raw water side and headers and rinsing the hardware on the transom. If my future move to Jax happens we will have the St Johns River nearby and being weekday boaters the ramps shouldn't be too busy. A full dunking and back in and out a few times should do a pretty good rinse. Let the engine run a bit and good to go.

we launch in fresh water (CT river) and often boat out into the Long Island sound (salt water)…running back to the launch naturally flushes the drives, motors, and exhaust.

And yes my boat is often called a salt water pile of sh!t…🤓

I like that idea. Launch on the St. Johns River, head out to the ocean. The trailer never sees salt and the boat is fully flushed when we get back to the ramp!
