the longer i listened, the more i want to go backwards to a basic no frills truck! Dont get me wrong...i have a 2010 Avalanche LTZ....love all the extras like the moon roof and heated/cooled seats etc......but these trucks are getting so complicated and manufacturers are PURPOSELY making them harder for the DIY guy to fix them! It just gets me ticked off! Why in the hell would you need to program the windows when replacing a window motor??? Or have to have a scan tool to replace a TPS sensor? When EFI first came out you loosened two srews and adjusted the Voltage output to be where it needed to be and off you go! Now if you replace fuel injectors you need to have them coded or it wont work! WTF! You cant get by fixing one of these things unless you have a $600+ scan tool now a days!
My old 1999 Chevy Dually, i had 3 ECMs for it...one was factory bone stock that i kept in the garage......one had a tune on it that was my daily...and the 3rd was a junk yard spare i kept in the trucks tool box just in case something happened on the road. I could swap between them without any issues! Try that now! Truck will light up like a x-mas tree and wont run at all!
I keep telling my wife that im looking for a 1991 K5 blazer like the 79 i used to have and im going to rig it my way.....a stand alone drive by cable LS3 with a 6L80 6spd trans. I'll yank some escalade heated/cooled seats that will be rigged again for stand alone....probably manual windows except for the rear tail gate which i like to have powered....Analog gauges to keep it simple and be done with it!

many times in my '99 dually I have been driving down the road and thought "man I wish I could configure my sunvisors or change the color of the lighting inside" also I wish I had an interior that is made of recycled apples so the local mice will be happier eating my seats if I park it for more than a couple days
