A 6600 rpm V10 would be cool to hear.

That said, what is the difference from the normal 400HP V10? What makes it a Mercury Racing motor? Seen Pete's video, the things are HUGE.

I'm not an OB guy. I just don't get excited about them at all. That said.....

I'm also not sure what the logic is? We already have a 400R. Why revisit old HP ratings just because you can do it with two more cylinders? I'd think the 500R would have been a more welcomed addition to the pantheon.....?

Thanks. Brad.

Me neither.

But if I was in the market, the new V10 does 400HP at lower max throttle RPM, burns 87 octane vs 89 minimum (91 recommended) octane of the inline 6 400R, no supercharger.
I'd say the lower RPM torque probably kills the inline 6 in the same range.
I'd guess they redid the midsection also.

The Verado platform is I think nearly 20 years old. So they're discontinuing that.
So probably just a new fresh sheet redesign.
May be more in store perhaps.

I think the new V10 base is for the next gen high performance engine. I can see them putting a supercharger on it and getting HP over 500hp for the next engine.
