Ok people here we go !
Approximately 6 years ago on June 9th 2017 I sent a transmission to Powerboat Transmissions in Pasadena CA to a guy named Richard Peat. He informed me that he had purchased all the patens and parts from what once was B&M 2 speed transmission and he was the only one who could repair my broken transmission. Now I did in fact take it to a couple of local transmission shops that took one look at it and said no way. So after a few phone call to Richard I decided to box it up and send it out. When he received the trans he immediately disassembled it and within days informed me it was a mess. He said he had his own custom shafts input and output and a better shifting solenoid that he had designed that he would use so he quoted me $1,500.00 for parts and roughly another $1,000.00 in labor to have it all upgraded to the newest specs. I told him it was behind a blown BBC in the 1,500 HP range so he built it accordingly. on sep 9th 3 months later he informed me he was having issues getting the valve body done and he had sent it out to a company in Maryland and he wanted me to pay him for the parts and the labor and we also discussed a driveline coupler because I was adding a 10" extension box. He then told me he would have to have it custom made to fit the tail stock of his transmission I agreed to having it made at the additional cost of $1,000.00 and $300.00 to have it shipped back so I sent him a check for $3,800.00 So several more months go by I get no phone call or emails or texts from him! On july 14 2020 he contacts me saying he's almost finished with it and he's only waiting on the custom driveline coupler also says he's been having some issues on his other business which is a construction company and he only does transmissions on the side!! On July 28th 2020 I try contacting him via phone/texts and get nothing I try email and get nothing ! Sep 16 still nothing Mar 23 2021 nothing Apr 29th 2021 nothing Jun 1st 2021 nothing Oct 29th nothing nov 3rd 2021 finally he calls me and lets just say I'm not very happy ! After a not so pleasant conversation of me telling him to send my trans back to me whether it's finished or not I never hear from him again for several years !!! Until today he actually called me around 3:30 pm asking me if I still wanted my transmission !!! Can you FN believe it??? I was shocked to say the least and politely told him NO I don't want it and I would like a full refund since it's been 6 FN Years !! he told me that he had to have lots of special parts made and he had a lot of money tied up in it !! I said yeah it's money I already paid you for. Anyway the conversation quickly went south I mentioned how unhappy I was with this entire business deal and I couldn't believe he could still be in business if this was any indication of how he does business I also told him that I hadn't gone to social media and put out there how poorly I had been treated throughout this entire process until NOW !! So here you go spread the word people Richard E Peat is a crook !!! And I have the proof to prove it. And yes I had contacted an attorney only to be informed that I have to have a CA Attorney because I live in MI At this point I have purchased another transmission and moved on as I'm quite certain I will never get my money back. Because he is once again not returning my phone calls or texts or emails once again.

Well no wonder it took so long....looks like the guy's 84 yrs old!!!

OMG! What a ****e show. I am beginning to think it is the nature of the game. When you say "boat" in the conversation it turns into $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$.

It was never about the money with me. I expected a 2 speed custom transmission to be expensive to repair/modify. What I didn't expect was the poor business attitude and the lack of communication. And the ghosting me just like he's doing now !! All I can say is CARMA !!
