Looking to upgrade to a 500efi in a 29ft envision boat dry weight is 5400. Bravo 1 hold up if not what would be a good upgrade? Building the Bravo 1? Plan on naturally aspirated and every year do some upgrades

If you plan to keep the 500efi near stock meaning not go over 500hp…stock bravo should be fine. If you plan on bumping hp or going crazy on the sticks…you may want to upgrade to xz gears

Guess it depends how hard you drive it really. A 29 envison single is huge, slow, heavy boat that pushes thru water really hard. 29 fountains with blue motors tear up xz and xr drives fairly fast and your boat dwarfs them. Out of curiosity, how fast is boat with old engine? I did alot of work to one and it was SLOW AF when done BUT boat was really wet too.

What I've seen a lot with heavy boats/big block with lots of torque is the drives tend to pop just cruising around. Seen them pop the top cap off on twins rotating out (port drive driven off upper gear for forward), snap the vertical shaft in half, eat the lower gear set, etc.

John at the Bravo Shop can build you up something if you start popping drives.
