Need some help. Imco scx's - had one engine shut down with drive in gear. I was towing a buddy in at idle speed for about 15 minutes. Couldn't get drive out of gear. I was eventually able to get it in neutral but the prop would only spin about half a turn either way. Boat will start and idle fine just not physically go into drive or reverse. Has anyone had a similar issue? Thanks for any help.

Is the shifter not moving in either direction or is it moving in both directons without engaging? Just need a little more info to help.

The shifter will move some but not physically go into drive or reverse. I was able to wiggle the prop a little and get it go back into drive but it immediately kills the motor. Checked the fluid in the drive and it all checks out there, pop the top cap off and everything appears normal but I’ve never worked on a lower either. Just having hell finding someone near Oklahoma to touch these drives.

Sounds to me like a stuck clutch or shifter fork issue. I had one of mine that I sent back to Imco because of a problem like this and it only had 3 hrs on it. They went through my other drive as well after finding that issue. Call Brad at the Califonia location and explain to him whats going on. He is very helpful as well. If you have to send them out to Imco, they have a very quick turn around time.
