CC 390X. with a history of skin cancer I cannot just spend the entire day in direct sunlight and would like to come up with some sort of Bimini, that doesn't look dorky. I'm thinking I would put it away or fold it up while underway. Any ideas out there?

That thing is killer!!!
Not sure how you feel about drilling into the arch but...I would look up a maxum cabin cruiser....or any really I guess just that came to mind. They have a track that runs around the arch on the front side then you add 2 brackets on the windshield frame with a stainless hoop in the front and 2 straps that would go forward and attach to rings on the deck to hold the stainless hoop up. Would cover the whole cockpit and be removeable. I would put a zipper on the arch side and leave the track on there so its easy up and easy down and you could have the canvas made as far down the sides as you want to block sun from the side. I have also seen these style cavas tops be fine at 30-35 mph so as long as you don't over do it on speed you could cruise with it up as well. Hope that helps or triggers an idea more to your liking. Good luck!

We use a 5' X 5' pop up canopy in the cockpit then take it down when under way and put in the v-berth. That way it doesn't get in the way or take away from the boat's lines. Sourced from ebay with different color fabrics available. When deployed I use the super duty 16" long reusable rubber twisty ties sold at Home Depot end caps to tie down the canopy to handles etc. in the cockpit. If we were going to get a bimini it would have to lay on the windshield or across the engine hatch, no thanks!

First off, beautiful boat, love the color combo! I’ve got some suggestions base on mod’s that I’ve made on a couple of boats that I’ve needed shade on. One was a 18 2+3 Donzi, another, a 28 Scarab Excel and again on a 10’ beam Excalibur Cat. Each of the cases, I bought a pre-made bimini at desired length and beam and then trimmed the tubing to get the desired height. The one on my cat is 8-foot long and 10-foot wide, made with 4-bow stainless hardware and sunbrella fabric. It came at 60-inches height, which would look crazy high for an inside the windshield, gunwales mount system. I went through the math using right triangles and cut the bows so the height is down to 40 inches. It completely covers the cockpit and even sheds the occasional downpour. It stows with the cover on just behind the stern bench seat on the combing to the sunpad/engine hatch. I use two sets of mounts, one set for the storage position, the other for the top up. We can run 40-45 mph with the top up, crisscrossing the aft straps to give it better lateral stability.
Your rig would look great with and a 6-foot long bimini black sunbrella top that has the tubes trimmed so that it is 18 inches above your seated head. Nice part is that you don’t have to mess with the fabric! If we can figure out the communications, I’ll send you my EXCEL spreadsheet to dial it in! Let me know

A good canvas builder can/will build you what you need.
Tons of options out there.
I couldn’t find what I wanted for my current project and since we we live in the sticks I built what I wanted for my Bimini.
Combined 3 tops to get what I wanted but am happy with results.
