Default 67 C10 Restomod FITech FI Help

Hello All,

Recently purchased someone else’s C10 project to finish- 1967 C10 cut-down long bed with custom air bag frame and suspension, healthy 422 cu SBC with fuel injection, turbo 400 auto- planned on adding vintage air, cruise control, and a 4 or 6 spd automatic. Have everything together and sorting out minor items fairly easily but this FI Tech is pretty frustrating. Seem to have it running well with decent idle and drivability when bamm out of nowhere it’s stumbling and dying from too much fuel. The handheld controller will show no changes in air fuel ratios even though it suddenly is dumping fuel.

Anyone had good success or better yet know of any Tampa FL area gurus that like FITech? Couple shops I’ve talked to suggested throwing it in the trash and starting over.

thanks,
Rick

I had a buddy that had it on Camaro. It worked great until it didn’t. I also have a buddy that runs a speed shop and he said any of the fuel injection units that have the computer attached to them have issues. Too much heat ruins them.

btw, the truck looks sweet!

as said above but the FItech seems to be the worst. several guys I know that tune efi wont even work on them. only the holley sniper. I always wondered about the long term durability of those as the computer has to be small and is on the engine meaning heat and vibration. if you look at the terminator or any factory efi the computer is pretty big and away from the engine. has to be for a reason.
