Yes, this might be a very rough ride, but then Brian Creech has mentioned that his specific Mirage 36 used to be a drug runner boat. The swells between Golden Gate and the Farallon Islands could be a little bit too much for some of the contenders if the Pacific serves them up. Really appreciate that they produce these true offshore racing events again.

Powerboat racing is returning to Benicia, California with the second Ocean Cup event of the 2023 Season,
San Francisco around Farallons – The Farallon Islands Challenge
There are two APBA/UIM APPROVED courses for Center Consoles, Catamarans, and V-Hulls to set their bar during world speed record attempts hosted by Benicia Yacht Club.
The primary course is a formidable 137-mile Challenge around the Farallon Islands
The inside course is a competitive 71-mile Loop starting in the Delta and racing around the San Francisco Bay running alongside the Golden Gate Bridge
Teams arrive on August 23rd for inspections and meetings. Race Day is August 25th.

45 years ago the 1978 Benihana Offshore Grand Prix West San Fransisco took place. The world's best offshore racing teams were there and at the end of the race, only three teams had survived the treasures waters of the Farallon Islands.
