Les,
Good Question, with a slowed economy, product developement introducing a new model and two new versions also released, two plant expansions and production running 3 - 4 month lead times, we've been doing all we can. There are shortcuts you can take to bring a new model in, but those are roads you'll never see Sunsation take. We have made it past all the above mentioned task and are one step short of taking the new SS396 into actual action. Aside from the afor mentioned task, the SS396 R&D is completed and scheduling with the Michael Peters and Marine Concepts are about the only things left to arrange. We're sorry for the notices but have to take all things into acount before commiting dollars of this size to any one project. These upcoming winter and spring boat shows will do alot to determine if the industry has bottomed out and the industry started to rebound. If all signs are positive, then fall will be our goal.
Thanks for inquiring

Thanks Dave. That made sense...
BTW, how's the second revision to the Innovator hull coming along? You know a lot of us (current/non-current Sunsation owners) are curious to the performance specs for the boat with the most common engine configurations for comparison purposes with the Dominator...

Uh, I'm confused here.....you mention..."with a slowed economy" and then about Sunsation you say "two plant expansions and production running 3 - 4 month lead times"....
That leads me to believe you're not "suffering" from the slowed economy. So, why wouldn't you go ahead with the R&D, etc...Or is that based on "expectation" of the slow economy being stagnant? I guess I thought you had a couple 32 owners wanting the larger boats.
I guess in all that, I don't understand why...it's either you're doing great and there is no time, or we're worried because we may not sell any due to the economy...
Didn't mean to stir the pot, but I've been awaiting the 396 as well, but I'll have a larger boat purchased before yours is out.

you have mention some very good points. Im sure that if there is not some real signs that there is a bigger Sunsation in the near future, come the Miami show in Feb., we will also be looking in a different direction.

Gentleman,
We are doing extremely well and will always try to do better. In that though, you have to be careful not to tackle to much at one time. We do have quite a few owners waiting to step up and will give deposits anytime we ask, but I don't believe anyone out there would feel comforatble emptying their tanks (cash) with a questionable economy. For your notes, it takes roughly $600K to design, tool and build the first boat. We're confident the year will show positive signs but until so and until the first new Innovator is completed and tested cant take any more steps forward. No one hates waiting more than us, trust me, I want the new boat more than anyone. I've been without a boat for way to long and have my own order for a SS396 in. All I can tell you is that we're being all we can in the smartest way we can. It will all work out and our apoligies to those of you waiting, I can say though, the wait (if you can) will be worth it.

$600K for the first new boat design and are still awaiting to get the returns on that investment as it hits the market is good reason to not throw down another $600K don't you think? Dave you guys take your time. I'm figuring the slower you are the better able my income can catch up to being able to buy one...
