Default SCX upper and scx dual downshaft lower??

I have a 29 shockwave Single engine. New engine is a whippled 548 hoping for 1100ish HP. Existing drive setup is a imco extension box imco sc upper and -2 sc lower. My best option is a SCX upper and scx lower? Would like to keep my extension box and existing dual ram steering . With a helmet change will that all work? And if I get a -2 scx lower with the scx upper would my X deminsion stay the same?

thanks

Don’t think your existing rams will work with a scx but I could be wrong. I’d call imco and talk to them. With the helmet change the scx will bolt up to your transom assy.

Your X will stay the same, -2 to -2, but I believe the scx puts the prop slightly further back but not much.

Your steering rams should work with the SCX. Also if you order the SCX conversion package you get the SCX upper, Dual Down Shaft lower, Helmet and the drive reservoir. Also the drive will come prefilled with oil, so all is needed is to fill the reservoir. I would opt for the 1 7/16 propshaft as well. They will include the prop hub, so you can run bravo props if you go that route. I went that route because everything else is upgraded, so why not get the bigger propshaft.

I'd buy the SCX upper and use your existing lower. You'll save some money and the boat will be faster w/ that lower. Just an opinion.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I can run my steering with IMCO "Nevada" steering cap part # 01-8373. Maybe this will help someone else looking to do the same

I didn't lose any speed going from sc lower to the dual down shaft lower. Most people lost speed on the original single shaft SCX lower.

Go big shaft and prop. Otherwise, you'll break the shaft and lose the prop, and/or keep breaking blades.

I don't think the SC lower will last very long with 1100 HP
