Hello all i have an Eliminator with a 496 mag ho ..the other day while getting ready to go out i had the boat running on the trailer……about 5/10 minutes into it , it just died out of nowhere..i went to restart it and the fuel pump didnt even prime after turning the key……i noticed one battery wasnt holding a charge so i replaced it and still nothing…but i did notice the fuel pump would prime roughly 15/20 seconds after i turned the key…but at the same time i verified there is no spark…….i jumped the fuel pump relay to make sure it was functioning correctly and it works when i jump it….i checked all the obvious things but im not getting anywhere….anyone else run into a problem like this???

but i did notice the fuel pump would prime roughly 15/20 seconds after i turned the key
If it did that why jump the FP relay?
Check your fuel pressure at the rail
Check fuses
Is there 12V at the coils

Ive checked all but the 12v at coils…i did check for power at the breaker at the ecm and slave soleniod…….should the coils get 12v with just key on or do i need to have my son come out and crank it while i check?…….and what about the delay in fuel pump priming??? I jumped the relay and it primed instantly so im baffled why it would be delayed 15/20 secs…….but im gonna investagate the power to the coils…i cant believe that slipped my mind considering ive built 3 supercharged LS swapped vehicles and they have a similar ignition system……thank you mopar man, i will update soon as i get out there and check……im in the s.f. East bay..,a little hot out today so i will check it when it cools down…..if i got 12v then id wanna check the cam/ crank sensors correct??? I honestly dont think its gonna have 12v though ,…but its better to verify than throw parts at it!!!………and before the boat died the fuel pump would prime as soon as the key was turned……it wasnt till after it died that the pump delayed prime for 15/20 seconds

The Main Power Relay (MPR) energizes everything (FP, Coils, Injectors) the ECM turns everything ON/OFF as needed (firing coils, firing injectors, etc)
If you have power at the components you need to get the motor scanned
Do use a parts cannon

Definitley…..im already trying to find a local shop that knows these systems……funny thing is ive owned this boat for a little over 7 years and ive never once heard the check engine beep code thingy or any beeps for that matter!! But yeah unfortunatly shes gonna have to go in…..i just wanna verify its ecm related before a shop tries to take me for a ride…..i own 7 vehicles and i do all my own work/builds….other than transmissions (that **** is black magic)…..i was brought up under the saying “ if you want it done right do it your self”………i dont think people born after the carter adminstration grasp that saying……although i do miss ronald and nancy
