Doing a full tune up on my 1995 7.4 Merc, with TBV ignition. Wondering if the MSD 8222 coil (High Vibration) work with the TBV system? I see the primary resistance is within spec (0.7ohms) but the secondary on the msd is 4.5k - spec is 9,400-11,700 Ohms.

MSD coil is much cheaper than stock replacements, plus i'm finding that some of the "direct replacements" are not within primary spec upon a closer look.

I've tried asking this on other forums, but some of the marine community tends to be anti-aftermarket, and against the replacing of parts. No it's not broken but I like keeping components fresh. Thanks in advance.

Yes it works. Have several in the field. One is going on 18 yrs or so.
