If I could afford to build a new boat, there wouldn't be one ounce of weight from a stereo system in it. Well, maybe I'd have whatever factory pre-wire everything for the next owner but there would be no head unit, amps, or speakers in it. I love music, just not on the water. Pretty much the opposite of this.

I am a audio guy, it is one of the things that got me to get a BS degree in the 80's.
I have been around some pretty Famous names in the audio world, spent 13 years as a senior audio engineer at the worlds largest audio company. Grew up and had many friend that worked at Crown, worked with a lot of their engineers over the years.
This is exactly why I hate after market audio, its just a bunch of speakers and amps, loud yes, but any other measurement of a nice system no.
With that, if it's what he wants to do so be it. Not my piece of cake but not my boat or system.
