Derek was a such a good guy and always happy. I met him around 10 years ago when he was working with Kenny Armstrong and Phantom when it was brand new. We had lunch together after shootout weekend and spent a little too much time telling stories (I ended up missing my flight, came back to the lake for an additional night and we hung out together for a few more hours). I was looking forward to seeing him in the Scism pits in a couple of weeks. Very sad to hear, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends for their horrible loss.
