Talking 1981 Sutphen 33' OUTRAGEOUS

Hey everyone,

I'm still learning how to navigate OSO and I have another thread going about my Formula 357 winter project. They want me to post pics but I need to have 10 posts first before I can do that. Figured what better way to get more posts up than start a new thread of another project I want to get off the ground!

A few years back I got bit. I got bit by the offshore bug! Not to go detailed into telling a story but I found & purchased the Outrageous! It was just the shell of her former self but being young and fired up with optimism I had to have her. Although I blew up the one motor in my Formula and that is really constraining my resources I want to try and make both projects work.

I heard the boat was originally set up with small blocks and #3 drives. There's still the extension boxes on the boat for the #3s maybe I'll get #3As?? Also thinking of putting a pair of NA 540s in her. instead of really working small blocks to their limit.

The goal is to (somewhat affordably) and (somewhat reliably) build this boat to compete in the OPA races in Pt. Pleasant next year. The boat is currently sitting in my warehouse just itching for attention. Figured I'd jump on here and start a discussion about what a good actionable plan can be for her!

Any and all information is welcome. Excited to be a part of this community!!

Cheers,
Nico

why not a set of warmed up LS engines instead of BBC? It would be interesting to hear how the boat handled with the small blocks vs how they run with BBC's...
