Default ???? Key West Championships......what to do ON the boat?

A buddy insists we haul his 38 hustler down there this year. We have a condo with a slip/dock so that part is covered!

Having never had a boat down there, what is there to do?
Arrive Wed mid-day, leave Mon AM

Thurs- ???

Fri- we have watched the races from the Navy pier in the past.....worth watching from the boat?

Sat- run out to the beach for the day (I think it's on woman key?)

Sun- we've normally gotten a table (very early) under the tents at what is now Opal Key Resort. With the boat do something different?

This is one of the events that has actually less boating per sey going on, other than the long 160 mile run down there, but its an epic run with having to navigate, going thru mangroves, under the bridges, the lunch stop, the harbor is closed while races are going on so keep that in mind, races are wed, friday and sunday,
Thursday night is the OSO party ( do not miss it) most of the poker run boats come in that day so just watching them come in is fun.
friday probably more fun to watch from pier, unless on big boat with bathroom since your out there for a long time. Friday night is boat parade, another must do, then after just having great time on duvall street with everyone, Ricks tree house is the place to be, band the dirt bags play there and are awesome
sat correct on an actual boating day. the key isn't that far. just a short run then raft up,

Seems like most poker runs have more boating things going on then this run, but trust me the weekend goes quick,

Why not sign up for the FPC poker run? Running the boat from Haulover to Key West is way better than trailering it down to KW

I tried talking him into running down from Haulover but he's not interested in that for some reason?

BTW: I have been to KW 4 of the last 6 years so I have an idea of what goes on IN town.......

These are the "extra" boating we've done that weekend after making the run from Haulover: Do the run to the Dry Tortugas. Take the boat on the northern portion of the keys out of Key West...noodle your way south on Big Spanish Key. This year we are boating from Key West to Naples. You are trailering the boat all the way to key west...you might as well take advantage of the great boating opportunities.

Dry tortugas as mentioned. Run up to Gilberts for lunch. Alligator reef is good place for snorkeling, i believe its off Islamorada.
