Xinsurance goes up and over
#4
Luckily everyone walked away. My heart sank as soon as it happened, reminded me of Bob Morgan and JT Tillman going over a number of years back. That one turned out catastrophic.
Kuddo's to the upgrades in safety construction in the building of the new generation race boats!
Also what you don't have attached in this thread is how the team turned bad into good.

They are on the edge but in particular Its when two cat boats get so close the air going around both sides ends up funneling more into the tunnel causing additional lift. That's what happened to the two stock class boats in key west a few years back and you can see the big mystic beside xinsurance come back down after xinsurance was already going over.

I think one of the differences in the accidents is the the Morgan/Tillman Skater rotated just a bit further, tripped on the point of both sponsons (while upside down and backwards), and then landed fairly flat and hard upside down. This had to put an unbelievable amount of pressure on the back side of the canopy. The X Insurance boat rotated and had a similar trip but the point of one sponson hit first, so by the grace of god, somehow after the trip the boat twisted so that when it hit the water again it was right side up. Very, very similar Still a horrific crash and they are very lucky.
