Default Perspective—Cigarette Fans Reflect On Double-Nickel Anniversary

Iconic in the truest sense of the often mis-used word, Cigarette Racing Team celebrates its 55th birthday this year, https://www.speedonthewater.com/pers...l-anniversary/

55 years. Still going strong! Pretty cool (and rare) accomplishment.

Long live Cigarette Racing Team.

Not sure about what's up with Fred Kiekhaefer, former president, Mercury Racing, and his comment;
"Don Aronow created some amazing brands: Hunt, Formula, Donzi, Magnum, Cigarette and more."

Charles Raymond 'Ray' Hunt was the most influential naval architects of our time, Hunt is credited not only with creating the deep-V hull but also with designing dozens of power and sailboat hulls and conceiving numerous marine technologies that were revolutionary. His efforts continue to impact the world of boat design today, as new models coming to market showcase some of Hunt’s best ideas. Mr. Ray Hunt he eventually came up with what was a 23-foot, deep-V powerboat with a 24-degree deadrise. Dick Bertram spotted the boat in 1958, and the rest is history. By1961, Hunt formed C. Raymond Hunt Associates in Boston, Massachusetts, with business partner John Deknatel, who today is the chairman of the current design firm, Ray Hunt Design. Hunt tried to secure patents for the deep-V hull around that time, but a technicality meant the patent was not granted, and other designers soon started copying the deep-V design. Walt Walters blessed Aronow with some of the best designs among his brands' models of which Formula was the first. Dick Bertram, on the contrary,, kept relying on Hunt for many of his Bertram models.
