That's it?...Sweet?...Where's the spy photos?....

Seriously, that's great. That's confirmation of progress. They've been saying Miami would be the target debut, looks like it'll happen.
Any specifics? Any significant, eye-catching features?

He just called me at work and I didn't have time to talk for specific info. But, based on his emotions, we will not be disappointed! He said the graphics you can order with the boat are awsome!Hey why don't you drive down and take some pics for us and post them

40' o/l, wind tunnel testing, bla, bla, bla.
he claims it will be , compared to 29 o/l,
5 mph faster
i'm very nervous about this, because i'm
soon due for a new boat
( i'm on the 5 year cycle!)

I'm sure it has already been said, but just FYI my friend was told by Baja they did all their wind tunnel R & D at Hendrick Motorsports and the word is " 5-7 MPH faster than a 29!". I hope all the hype holds true. By the way, no pictures were allowed of this boat-I think-or I'm sure he would have taken some or brought home a brochure or something. It will all be unvieled in Miami

Thanks for the information. Even though I won't be in the market for this boat, I am very excited about it and hope it is a turning point for Baja.
I do not know much about the testing involved in building a hull, but I have a problem with a wind tunnel? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this does not make any sense to me?
I thought the way to test a hull was in the water, Hydrodynamics.
With a car you are reducing drag over the body. Only the tires are touching the ground. With a boat you have all the hull surface that is in the water. The shape of a boat is about as areodynamic as it comes. The problem is with the friction of the hull and water.
I have seen over the years many boats that are tested by making exact scale models and actually putting them in tanks where they can control the water flow to see how the hull reacts.
A wind tunnel just does not make sence to me? Please help me out on this one.
Thanks

Mark,
You would be amazed how much effect the aero drag has on a typical vee hull. Aero drag can account for about a third of total drag. Reducing this will lend itself to obvious results. I've heard Baja has tested about a dozen different deck and hull side models to optimize the aero profile. Only time will tell.
I, too, hope all the hype holds true. Mark my words, this will be my next boat!

A good way to look at this would be the down force that the wind could create on the boat. Much like race cars, if the wind hits certain parts of the car (in this case boats) it would cause the car to be pushed to the road and in the boat it could cause it to be pushed down in the water making the boat become "heavier", thus slower. (or at least in need of more power to make it go faster) Just my .01.
