Well, I have a question about where to shop for insurance. We currently have State Farm, but they claim our boat is about all they want to insure.

What do people do that have twin 38' boats that do 90+ mph? Where do you go for insurance?

I'm also curious to know if anyone has an 80+ mph 38'ish boat insured with State Farm or Progressive or something. I'm wondering is State Farm is yanking my chain or they seriously don't touch anything over 32' and less than 80 mph.

I've already contacted Sy for some info, but any other places out there?

In another thought, I am self employed, and it was brought up that some insure their boats through their business insurance. I'm not a fan of this method as the business will not own the boat, but, I'm open to options.

I use National Marine Underwiters for my 27 Fountain. Much cheaper than my agent that has my house cars etc. They have an online form for getting a quick quote and they respond within a day with a price based on the info you provide. http://www.nmu.com Good Luck!

I have my boat through State Farm. The agent had to call the underwriters for a waiver. The boat is a 2001 Donzi 38ZX (in case the user name didn't give it away) however the boat does not go over 80 but they did not ask me about speed. I have also heard some Allstate agents will write performance policies. Lastly, Total Dollar was mentioned as a company with decent rates.

Thanks Matt, just an FYI, NMU was the FIRST company to respond to my late night quote inquiries. The bad news is they won't insure what I'm lookng at. Bummer.
