Ayuh,..... Are you gonna weld to the tailer, or are these bolt on parts,..??

If welding, the galvanize absolutely needs to be ground back to bare steel an inch or more from the weld areas, as the smoke from the welds will make you incredibly sick, or kill you,...

I painted my wagon, instead of the rattlecan cold galvanizing,...
I sprayed the whole thing with rusty metal primer, then 2 coats of implement paint, with majic hardener added,....
It's been 5 or 8 years now, 'n is holdin' up extremely well,...

Bondy, Comped,

The zinc will also wreck any chances of a decent weld.

Thanks. Brad.

well aware of having to remove the zinc first, have welded on them before and I hate it but it is what it is as I am going to weld the new parts on as they go up and hold the hitch. just trying to decide if painting over the whole trailer is going to work and hold up or if the galvanized parts will end up peeling. they claim that cleaning the galvanized areas with white vinegar first will help adhesion but I have never tries it before.
