Hey all,
I have an AO 2600NSX pushin approx 750hp. I need a drive on it. Seems from what I’ve been reading, which only confirmed my fear ($$$) is that an IMCO SCX or equivalent is the no nonsense solution if I dnt want to risk snappin gears at some point with a lessor drive. What i didn’t realize is that the beefier a drive goes, the more power it will rob. Atleast that’s what I’ve read here. What I’d really like to know is will an Arneson / Arneson conversion work well w a single powerplant and a mere 26 feet of hull? Has anyone or know anyone that’s done this? Lookin fwd to opinions.
proceed.

I agree with Griff here. I owned an AO 26 with around 800HP. The difference in speed between XR/SC and SCX/SC was around 2mph. Make sure you stick with the SC lower because the SCX lowers don't work well on single engine cats or so I'm told. The boat would go over 100mph with the SCX/SC combo.
