I was referring to the Cigarette rendezvous at the lake in my article. I thought that was clear but have added a couple of words to make it clearer. Apologies if clarity lacked in my initial story.
For the records, I was at the Destin Cigarette event put on by Skip Braver, who owned the company. Braver and I became friends during the years, and I he told me many times that Performance Boat Center took it to a much higher level. And he was/is correct.
None of which means Big Thunder Marine can't put on a first-class event. But those are the facts.
Also for the record? There is no copyright on the word "rendezvous" for boat gathering. Boat companies such as Formula have been using it interchangeably with "regatta" for decades.

I don’t think ANYONE could argue PBC’s dedication to making a first class run. Everytime we attended it was even better than the last. The PBC event will be missed. But 100% understandable why they stepped away from it. They don’t carry the brand. No brainer.
with that said, I just can’t figure out the negativity by some of BTM picking up the torch and running with it, giving back to cigarette owners. Seems a little harsh and a kick in the teeth to be negative about a free event for owners. I mean, I would imagine, knowing the type of guy Brett is, he’s happy that BTM is throwing a run for the cig guys.
i guess i just wish everyone the best. And wish we could make the BTM event this year and know we’d be over at PBC at some point, crashing their event to say hello and hang out.. lol. It’s all good.

Love all of the folks at Performance and they have set the bar very, very high. In fact, the bar may be too high for any other dealer to compete with it. That said, Big Thunder is just not any other dealer. We are spoiled at LOTO to have both. My only concern is that it could possibly split the Cig contingent, and there is nothing like 50 or 60 true Cigarettes tearing down the lake in unison. The sights, sounds, and feel of them is nothing short of awesome.

Big Shoes to fill IMO.
