Default Damn, It's Snowing !!!!

There go the plans we had to trailer to Florida tomorrow. Was not going boating, but were looking forward to getting the boat delivered and attending the Jacksonville Performance Boat Club Christmas party on Saturday.

Oh well, maybe we will at least have a good ski season here in North Carolina this winter.

Twenty-two miles to get home in this stuff, it will be a long drive!

Yeah, I know. You northerners drive through 10 feet daily. Down here everything closes up. The plants we call on are sending employees home, the wife works for the State and they go home at 2:00, the schools are out and my bank just closed.

I think I will let all these fools get off the highway and then head out.

Dock it's coming up our way tonight. yuk. Did you ever take your boat in rough waters like 3 to4's and moving at a decent clip. If so how did it handle it and did it creak and bang like our 272 .

Baja27,

We now have 6 inches of snow and now it has turned to sleet, and coming down fast. I just hope the power does not go off.

Hope you guys don't get it too bad.

As for the boat, it is rock solid. We have made two trips to the coast where we went out the inlets into the big water. Both times the seas were rough and we definately had 4-5 footers the last time. I cannot wait to get the helicopter pictures back. The photographer said we were getting some good air. Every third roller was perfect and I would yell to the wife to hold on, and up we would go. The boat stayed very level and landed well. My skill level is not that great, so we did not push it hard. About 50 MPH was the fastest we ran. I was passed by many larger boats with more experienced drivers. One was Robert Tanner in Tonto, a 41 Apache. He went by me about ten feet in the air. All I could see was the bottom of his boat.

All I can say is the boat is awesome in the rough. The ride, handling and the landings are as good as it comes in a 36 footer. It is very predictable, and no, I have not heard any creak's at all.

The knob did come off the electric stove and the sub on the port side had three screws to come loose. Other than that, not a problem.

JT29,

Yes that is "Dock Holiday" on the TBM website. The picture was taken in Jacksonville, Florida in September at the River Rally Poker Run. The name has been removed from it. Clint at Geo Graphics has designed a new Logo for us that will be on the boat soon. Same name of course, just a better look.

Keep us posted on the Kilo. If they break 200 MPH it will be awesome.

Take care guys.

WOW!...
I was just listening to it on the radio. Practically, the whole eastern seaboard is messed up right now. Raleigh and others are shut down. Be careful out there.

Thanks Doc for the info. Did you look at other boats before you bought this one. The two boats I'm looking at are 36 Outlaw with 500's and 38 formula fast tech with 500's. It's a tuff call. My 272 would creek when hitting large waves 4 footers. I want to buy a boat that can handle 3 to 4 's with no problem. I did love my 272 it was a great boat for me, but now it's time to move up in size and comfort Also it's snowing here now about lunch time and were closing for the day so far about 3.5"

Guys,

I'm back on line at the office anyway. This has been one hell of an ice storm. We closed shop at about 4:00 PM Wednesday to allow us to drive home in the daylight. Already had about three inches of snow on the ground. Not a big deal at that time. Well, it turned into sleet and it was hard all night long. I got up at 6:00 AM to let the dogs out and BOOM, the power went out. We are still without power at home, going on 56 hours now. There are no motels or hotels around here with a vacancy. The power has been off here at the office until about two hours ago. I have go the phones and computers back online, and trying to get the place warmed up and ready to go for Monday. The wife just left to go back home. I hope she calls me with some good news! If our power is back on at home tonight, we plan to head out in the Morning to deliver the boat to Florida and be back here Monday night before wave number 2 of this freezing stuff hits. I have a 5000 watt generator and that is all that has saved us. The F-350, my Ford 5000 Tractor and the heaters in the boat are on one plug. The other plug comes into the house where we have the water bed, television, radio and coffee maker running. We went to an employees house this morning and got the first shower in two days. Man, I cannot tell you how good that felt. Both dogs and both cats were in the bed with us last night. Everyone stayed pretty comfortable until we got up, the house had really got cold over night. The low last night was around 19 at home. The lowest it as got in the engine compartment of the boat as been 35.7 degrees F. Thank God for those heaters from Boaters World and a generator. Thanks for all your concerns, we are still very lucky compared to many. There are a lot of houses with trees sticking through them.

Jim,

Hope you guys are still doing well. Tennessee was hit hard also from what we could see.

Maybe this means a good ski season for North Carolina. I am ready to get up to Beach Mountain. Do you guys ski? If so we need to hook up.

Take care Mark
