Anyone towing with a GMC/Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0, 6.2 or 6.6 V-8? I have a 2011 Ram 2500 Mega Cab Cummins w/only 80k miles on it but I am thinking of going gas and to newer model to get a better ride. I just sold our 32 Sunsation 32' SSR and bought a 29 CCX, all in boat, fuel, gear & trailer should be 8000/8200lbs. My Ram gets 16/17 on the highway and 13/14 towing on the highway. I have traveled in the newer 2500's and they do ride better, is there anything to be gained on fuel mileage? My research tells me the gas engines actually get worse mileage than the diesel. Most of our towing is between FL and IN.

If the boat is the heaviest thing you tow, you could get away with a newer 1500 and definitely get a better ride. My 2019 ram 1500 was rated for 11k lbs towing., dont recall what the mpgs were cause i never paid attn to it. Had to upgrade to a 2500 when I got the Formula but I do miss the softer ride.
