Default Big Oil Cooler Part Question - Merc 525SC

Hey Fellas,

I bought a bigger oil cooler for the Merc 525sc build. Can anyone describe what that square aluminum box is for? It has either an oil pressure / temp switch on it, like the one on the filter mount housing. Comes off the oil filter. Thanks 🥃

Appears to be an oil temperature thermostat.
