Default Need insurance for 38 fountain fever

So whats the trick here everyone of talked to with big HP says they dont disclose the true HP. That to me seems like a no no if you have a claim and they find out you just gave them a way out for sure. Mt marine survey states each motor makes 550HP truth be told they 900 a piece but i wasnt gonna argue with guy that did the survey each time i get coverage then once the underwriter gets the survey and sees the motors they drop me. Not sure WTH to do. I did get a qoute from Boat US they want 4300 a year for 100k agreed value policy. I mean if something happened and they send a adjuster out they will definatly be asking questions about the motors wont they? Or is what others are telling the way to go about it. Any advice greatly apprichated.

No real way around it. A few choices:
1. Lie about it like what you've mentioned. I'm not sure that makes sense either b/c if you do have something catastrophic, they will find out and then deny coverage, so what was the point of insurance? (You just wasted a bunch of money)
2. Run with liability only, save your pennies in your own pocket to pay to fix your own stuff.
3. Tell the truth, sleep better at night, that quote above sounds about right for what you have.

I've been down this road a few times. These boats are like the plague to insurance companies. I was shocked and never found a better solution than going with legitimate coverage, from a good/reputable insurance company,

"Insurance is always too expensive, until you need it!"

This is who I use and would also recommend.

Be forewarned, there is no "shopping around" with these type boats (Older / big power). The response you will get from Total Dollar will most likely be the best / typical. (I believe there are only 2 insurers in the market)

I’d Call David Wagner - he insures my CIG with modified motors…..
