Just replaced my 1965 Merc I sterndrive with an Alpha I - Gen II drive and new transom - OD Serial # is 0L 100040

...Just a guess, but it could be a model year 1965. But its just a guess...

Yeah - well, perhaps you misunderstood the question, and since they didn't make Alpha drives in 1965, I doubt you are correct. Ed
