Why are the trim tab hydraulic tubes so short on these K planes
#1
Since most transoms are 3" thick, why are the hydraulic tubes for the tabs 2 3/4 when they are installed all the way? The outside of the double ended hollow stud has the plastic nut on it I can only assume for sealing. If I take the nut off and put the stud flush with the outer edge of the tab, then there is more than enough lenght inside to go thru a 3" transom and still put a washer and nut on the inside. If the stud is bottomed out like I found, then the transom has to have a recess cut into it. . Or could it be that I just have a pair of the wrong tubes? Another pair of K planes use the same length tube, so I dont think thats it.

actually most outdrive transoms are between 2" to 2-1/4"
if you have a 3" thick transom then maybe you have outboards?
either way i know there are longer tubes for the k-planes you can buy....i had to replace a set and found different sizes...call BAM im sure he can set you up or tell you the size of the threads to get some longer ones.

As a small machine shop owner, I can tell you they'd be about $525. Sound fair?

Thanks. Brad.

I'd figure they would be $529 so you are cheaper than Merc

Wally,
Whoops.... I misread (or short term memory glitched) the price on the listing. I swear I know how this capitalism thing works....
$525. And that's my final offer.
To be fair, Merc's kids gotta eat, too....
Thanks. Brad.
