Default Mercury Racing 520 slow to accelerate until about 3000 rpm

I have a 2018 Baja 27 Outlaw with a Mercury Racing 520 that upon applying full throttle from idle slowly accelerates until around 3000 rpm then it comes alive and takes off. Other than that the engine runs fine, idles fine etc. Did Mercury build this delay in the ECM to lessen drive stress etc? New to the forum and appreciate any help and knowledge. Thank you!
