Default Where's Everyone Now?

Throughout all the hobbies I've had over the years, I know forums are a dying breed and most have gone to FB Groups. I'm looking to get into more of the performance side of boating and wondering where everyone is meeting/scheduling runs these days?

I've read back through pretty much every page of this Northeast forum and would love to meet some other locals into go fast stuff. Seems like this forum was pretty active up until 2017ish and know there's plenty of boats still out there, just not sure where everyone is posting.

I won't have anything crazy, but looking to buy something this winter that I can do 70ish on. Typically boat out of Fall River area

Where's everyone shooting the **** and making runs happen these days?

Poker runs america seem to be the major poker run organiser as of today.
Many other more local run are also held, often with fund raiser attached to the event...
Scroll OSO and search the different region section, it may help you find what you are looking for.

Of course many runs are shared on facebook, I am sure you will find what suit your schedule !

And post pictures of your new to you boat when you find it ! We always love pictures !

I see plenty of poker runs and events through face book - I guess I was more looking for the local/small get togethers. Browsing back in the old pages, looks like there was an active group of guys that would go out for a blast a lot, trips to Block Island, etc etc. I'm sure will be easier to meet other boaters once I'm out, but just trying to find a way to stay busy reading stuff over the long winter

We just did a big run on the Connecticut river usually happens same time in October every year. I know there’s a run out of fall river that the guys put together and I think there’s a couple things on Narragansett Bay. I’ve never been up that way by boat, and most weekends in the summer there’s a group of guys that run out to Block Island or over to Greenport for lunch from old Saybrook

We had a good size group of boaters in Connecticut I'd say from 2010 to 2016ish. We even started a boat club. (CPBA). It was a lot of fun. Everyone in the group kinda went separate ways as time went on. Some got out of boating, some got married, some moved away, or just faded. I sold my Top Gun in 2017.I took a couple years off, then bought a cruiser. had that for 3-4 yrs and then ended up buying another Cigarette...So I'm boating again, just not at the level we were doing it in 2012 -2016 ! My body couln't handle it anymore...lol

There's a bunch of guys that run out of Fall River and Fairhaven every weekend but don't think they follow OSO anymore. Everyone's on Facebook. Borden Light Poker Run is the main event around here but a few of us do the 1000 island's poker run and the chicken wing run in NY

FB groups have killed the forums. I hate posting and asking for information on FB. I'm glad I can jump on here and go back and see all the older threads and information on Offshore Only. Luckily there are a few places near me that build boats and I've made a few friends with people locally that are into performance boating. Word of mouth helps a lot but unfortunately facebook seems to be the only place that regularly posts info on different runs.

I can relate to that! I'm trying my hand at the whole center console with outboards thing these days, but because I'm an addict, I keep looking for an old race boat to restore...nothing like the sound of a pair of screaming big blocks!
