RIP
That Calda channel is a tight course if you’re on a low tide which I’m pretty sure it was.

Don’t know how many people know this so I’ll put it out there , if you found your mark and can’t see the next one look at the marker sign on the backside of the piling than scan in the opposite direction perpendicular to the marker.

The signs are in line with the proceeding marker so when you shine a light on it it’s in full view. This helps in daylight conditions when you have multiple markers winding a channel and will
keep you from cutting towards a marker that is the wrong one in the series.

Hate hearing or reading about these things. Just wonder how fast they were going to hit a sand bar and roll the boat? Is it possible to broadside one?

Hitting a sand bar is almost like hitting a wall, when you are in the boat.

I was in a 'ski boat size' boat headed to a club on the river edge, the evening before the Parker 9 Hour Enduro... hauling ass ( sort of)... on the river... ( gosh... was it around 1988?)...... We hit a sand bar.
But it grabbed the prop. We quickly slowed down. ( I felt the prop dug in..... the hull slightly scrubbed the sand, so we didn't get injured....
Who was in the boat? Some of the drivers for the race....
Craig Wendt.... Scott Gillman.... Don Johnston..... Mike Seebold..... Greg Foster....... and friends....
We all got out and pushed....pushed.....pushed / lifted ..pushed off the sand bar.....
I don't remember if we ever made it to the club.... !!

My prayers go out to all involved. I always come straight down from Marco, is it possible to have someone post on a map where this happened?
