Tasked with helping a friend get his boat ready for next season. He wanted to add Mayfair external steering. Parts are here, but I am not sure about installing the new Gen2 end cap on the drives. His drives are early Bravo's with the straight rear cap. Older steering kit instructions has you remove original rear cap and replace with Mayfair new cap. Newer kit has this smaller end cap and side brackets that bolt to the new end plate. They have you remove the two upper bolts on the end cap and use supplied spacers and bolts. This spaces the new end cap out about 1/2". Seems like a weak point and an accident waiting to happen. Looking for pictures of recent Mayfair kits with this new end cap on straight back Bravos's. Any help appreciated.

^^^^^ Thanks for that info. I was able to track down some additional pictures from Mayfair installations. My hunch of the rear cap spaced back off of the rear of the stock end cap was correct. I may have some time today to go out to the shop and trial fit the first drive and see if everything mates up. This is a little more involved than the IMCO system I installed on my boat a few years ago. Lots of extra holes to be cut into this brand-new transom.

Crap forgot to update. Got it all figured out. It is actually a pretty nice set up, they have changed from a Heim joint at the drive to the style shown above at the transom. Had some issues with installing fittings on the cylinders and a few other minor things. If you are considering this kit, be aware you have to put EVERYTHING together. They also do not give you torque settings for some of the attachments and it is very time consuming. We are finished with the outside part for now and will focus on all the internal assembly in a couple weeks. But before that, pulling the drives back off, lots of finish work in the bilge before engines go back in.
