Hi,
I'm new to offshore boat scene, worked a lot on smaller boats up to 30 feet ones but now with this project entered in to big boys offshore boating league.
So this boat came with no engines, no tranies or crashboxes only with these Kiekhaefer k drives (fully rebuilded and not used for almost 10years) which as I researched were bought by Mercury upgraded to dry sump and now we know as SSM6 or #6.
Nowhere I can find service manual for these drives. Ordered oldest manual of mercury #6 when they was not converted to dry sump application, it should be + - similar to these drives.
Searching more info about #6 drives as I understand they need add tranny in middle between drives and engine to shift forward/reverse gears?
Im asking this because cable which is marked in red is connected directly to Zero Effort Mechanical Controls at helm station and with leaver I can change prop spinning direction = forward/reverse.
Does anybody maybe know why it is linked like that? Does Kiekhaefer k drives were option to switch gears in drive inside and #6 don't have this option anymore?
Looking forward to offshore members help on this because there is almost no info about these drives or people around which can explain this. Tnx in advance.
