This is the way to do a I/O to OB conversion. I wonder who did it.

But I am still waiting for ICDEDPPL to decide to get rid of his I/O's on bad kitty and bolt a couple 500's on the back.
The we could have a conversion thread on making the added room a Hot tub.

- What size heater to use,
- no worries on using a Honda Gen in what was the engine compartment,
- filter the water coming in?
- Automatic chlorine injector etc.
- No more working on those BBC's anymore.

Scott Porta had Freds boat at his shop and filled the transom for his conversion. He told Fred that he wanted his name on the boat because "mine says your name on little tags everywhere" LOL.

What a radical change from what you would think is a twin gas I/O application, to a single Cummins?....skipping that rigging to now O/B's? ....the expanse of seating room can't be denied, though I like it

That boat was also used in testing some of the early 400HP and up Mercury Racing/Verado/etc. outboard days. Pat Haughey was contracted by Mercury Racing to build a couple 37' Active Thunder Boats with a bare transom and no rigging, which I believe are still in use today for outboard testing at Lake-X/X-site, or whatever. Pat told Mercury he "dared them to break the transom"

How has Pat been? Haven't heard about any new AT's lately. Saw a local dealer has a 22 Banshee for sale but it was a 2023.

Speed on the Water did a whole story on this 39 NT: Eight years and $1 million later, Kiekhaefer called it quits.
