These are the guys capable of stepping into our game. With all of the high output small displacement motors Honda has had over the last 50 years, they know what it takes. It will be interesting to see how hard they want to cha$e for a small market segment-If you see them go into offshore for proving grounds and offer factory support, we will know they are serious.

With Mercury dropping the ball the last few years I more than welcome more competition, Honda especially. Great engines on the road and I am sure these will prove to be great engines on the water

Indeed. Honda's non-racing marine offerings have, as far as I understand, been rather underwhelming, except for reliability. E.g. flywheel at the wrong end of the crank.

Mercury's current engine program is the strongest ever compared to competitors, and Mercury has been very busy for the last several years counting all the money.

Competition in any industry is good IMHO. Consumers having a “choice” is not a bad thing either.
