In The next year or 2 I’m hoping to run up the east coast from Florida to Newfoundland than lay it up for the winter and continue down to do the loop the following year.

Ultimately I would like to head across the Panama Canal and run up the west coast to Alaska than sell it.

I’ve always thought it would be awesome to take a year or so and run down the west coast / pacific through Panama Canal up east coast and do the grand loop. What an adventure but I don’t think I have the balls to take that on!! Seems epic but also a LOT of work. I do love following those adventures.

there was a member on River Dave’s that documented in real
time his adventures through Panama Canal. Pretty cool.

I had a friend help run a big Nordhavn from Jacksonville to Fort Lauderdale, it was being put in the show to be sold. He said running 8-9 knots takes a very specific type of boater and he wasn't it! Boat was 70-75 ft going off memory and he said it was a wonderful machine but it certainly wasn't covering a lot of ground in 10-12 hours. To me the super efficient trawlers (slow) are like sail boats.

I think that 26-27 ft Ranger Tug with the Yamaha OB is the sweet spot if you are staying close to shore/inland like the great loop. It will run 40mph when you want to pick up the pace

Still in the planning stage. Currently up in the yard doing some cosmetic repairs and a possible full repaint . Mechanical , electronics and appliances are all new in the last 2 years. Have to see what the economy does in the next year .

I take it you live in California Tank. I cruised all over the Great Lakes on my dads sailboat as a kid and it’s nice but the jewel is the North Channel as is cruising up north of you in the Sounds.

I’ve followed a few groups doing the loop and to me they rush through to much of it just to have to slog back down the rivers back south.

Im a sailor at heart and only purchased this trawler to do some cosmetic repairs on and sell but after doing a few weekends on my 37 foot trawler compared to my 36’sailboat I converted.

Still faster than the sailboat and out of the weather and cheaper to run and own at 3.5 mpg compared to sails and rigging replacement.

It’s boring as hell and there is no sensation of even moving at 7 knots up on the a/c bridge but it’s worth it to being able to wash clothes while cooking in a full kitchen not to mention sleeping in a queen size bed.
