It's time for the annual service on our Bravo. Normally I would pull the boat to Hilltop Marine and get it done, but....

CP Performance - Mercury XZ Bravo Gears Upgrade Kit 1:50 Ratio

I'm contemplating picking up the upgrade gearset kit for it, in light of the recent rebuild and expected HP gains as a result. Todd at Hilltop is perfectly willing to use purchased parts, but his top staff is out until mid/late March, and they will have a fair bit of backlog to chew through before getting to mine.

Any good drive guys in the Lake Cumberland/Somerset, KY area? Just fishing for options. Or is this something a relatively mechanically inclined layman can do?

OK... How about anywhere withing a reasonable drive? Or anywhere somewhat between Dayton and Cumberland?

I spoke with Hilltop. they don't want to do it. Given the performance nature and the outside purchased parts, they don't want to shoulder the liability. They are more of a "like-for-like", parts in, parts out, kind of shop. I can't really say as I blame them.
