Default Decoding The Undeniable Appeal Of Michigan City

What makes an offshore race at the southern end of Lake Michigan so popular? Everything about it, https://www.speedonthewater.com/deco...michigan-city/

I don’t remember his exact words, but it was Reggie Fountain that at one point said Michigan City/Lake Michigan is the most brutal place he ever raced.

Having done the Chicago Poker Run years back (out of Michigan City), with 30 mph winds out of the north; I absolutely believe him when he says that. At one stop/marina we visited, the water was blown so much out of the harbor (beyond the break wall) that a couple boats ran aground.

I grew up in Chicago/NW Indiana, and there is another saying:
“When a polar bear farts, you smell it in Chicago.”
… that’s how powerful those winds and what they do to the water are.
