Great read Matt! Really sorry to hear this. I’d drive past Jerry’s house often while working and think of him and how they were doing. I always remember walking into the powerboat office in Ventura, usually on a weekly bases to bug jeff, Ricky, Brett, Greg and Vickie. I’d pop into Jerry’s office from time to time and say hello. He was alway warm and welcoming but he always struck me as stoic and professional. There was this Ora about him, you could feel the rich history and knew “this is the big boss”.
I was there for the 96 offshore races in Ventura. Still one of the best races I’ve ever attended. It was HUGE! and there were people and boats EVERYWHERE. It was awesome. Jerry extended to me so many opportunities via Brett and Greg, not just the articles on our cigarette but hanging around that office and that team really instilled a passion for writing within me. It was really a great time in my life I will always cherish and remember. He was a fantastic man. Very kind. He will be sorely missed.

Powerboat and Open Wheel were the two magazines that I subscribed to and still have most of them. Their publication was the best in the business from the tests to the articles it really brought powerboating to you. RIP and Godspeed.
