So I the opportunity to get a velvet drive for my project, he's gonna check the gear ratio of it. My drive is a 1.32:1 ratio do I'm thinking I need a 1:1 gearbox and not a 1.52:1 if it is a 1.52, can a 1:1 greater be installed into the cases? Are they all the same cases? Additionally, what can see done to these to increase the HP capabilities?

What HP are you planning? Transmissions are rated in torque, not HP. So increasing your rpm will enable more HP. Obviously, going past 6k rpm presents it's own issues. But if you lug the engine/trans under 5k rpm, you're limiting your safe power transmission capacity.

You're better off finding a proper performance aftermarket transmission. Lots around for a reasonable price. BAM may have some used trans around.

Messing with changing gear sets in the velvet drive is likely not what you want. A Velvet drive is designed for direct pass through (1:1) or reverse. To get a ratio change, it has an additional gear box bolted to the rear. So if you uncoupled, you would need a tail shaft housing and output shaft.

It will be a twin turbo big block, Holley EFI system and an honest 1k HP. SCS was recommended to me, but since the velvet was offered to me free I figured I'd see what I could learn and find out about that, if it was worth building and using.
