I have a Mercury 450R 2021 model outboard. It's been working 100% all time, now at 600 hours. No issues. However, I wonder if Mercury upgraded the prop shaft at some point during the 450R production? I have decided to keep the engine. I normally buy a new engine when the warranty expire

There is now a one piece prop shaft. There is also a cavitation plate (aftermarket add-on) called the shaft saver that you might want to consider if your boat is shuttering to get on plane.
