I replaced my BBC Lightnings as there were a few spots in the outer tube that had rusted through causing an external water leak. I spotted this last year and just slapped some Gray RTV over it, problem solved for the year. I was not concerned with internal leak, stainless inners and plugs looked fine. Another spot popped up with a rust thru.
I think if someone was a good welder and had access to the correct metals and bending stuff, they could be repaired. Would anyone that is brave, skilled and on a budget have a use for these? They really look bad but they may be repairable. Just thought I would ask in case anyone wants to perhaps take a stab at fixing or use them as a practice for repairing some that are not as bad, use them as a testbed. Hate to just toss them is someone could use them. Louisville, Ky area.
