Default 39 to 42 ft catamaran which manufacturer

Ok so I am fairly new to the scene bought a 34 cat with 500s recently, I am in SW Florida and have small kids so I have to pick my days to take them out. I would like to eventually go bigger to increase the days we can go out. So my main focus would be rough water capability and not necessarily top speed as much. So DCB, MTI, Wright performance maybe Valor 38? any others I should look at? Outboard models only

I have a 36' Wright Performance and I am in the process of completing a new 42'. After spending lots of time in both, the 42' is an incredible rough water rig and still performs competitively with the smaller hulls when its calm.

Kinda surprised no one mentioned a 388 or 426 skater for rough water (offered with OB).

A few in the classifieds listed...

I went with DWR/Doug Wright Powerboats 42 for reasons you listed (except top speed—it is fast). My kids are 6 & 7 and love it!

Skater is not associated with big outboard cats.

But, yes, that’s what I would pick if I lived in Florida…

Markus, you might want to check out the Skater website - number of 388's built with 450 and 500's.... all the way up to the 46 is offered as O/B (Quad 500's)

I’ve seen the schematics of boats with outboards on the transom on the Skater website.

Still does not seem like Skater is enthusiastically embracing outboard power, despite its origins.
