OK, just looking for opinions. My 1600 hour 502 mags MPI are in need of a rebuild. I’ve never had one single problem with these. They’ve been great motors with decent fuel economy and started every weekend for the last 25 years. My question is would you do a stock rebuild or the 540 upgrade on them? 380 powerquest. 1600 hrs?!? That’s impressive. Love them 502 mags.

What out drive do you have? 540 usually make quite a bit more HP and TQ than a 502.

If you beef up the engine, you may need to beef up the drives too.

If you got 1600 hrs from 502 and were happy with the performance, it's obvious which route to go.

Bravo 1. They somehow have 1600 hours also. I have a new set of bravo 1’s was just waiting for one of the old ones to explode lol

540s all the way! More displacement is free HP and they sound better.

What is your actual top speed?
and how fast at lets say 3500 rpm?

She used to go around 68-70. Cold weather maybe a bit more. I would guess in the 40s around 3500.

502's=====15K 540's=====40K+++++

With those good speeds and price tag F-2 posted i would stick to 502's !
