Default fuel and fillup

this morning the fuel gauge read 1/4
so i ran it up to the non ethanol station and put in 51 gallons and it was full to shut off pump
fuel gauge checked and now it reads empty
wonder if the bouncing around got it stuck or ?????
no way i will pull the inspection panel as i dont want 91 non ethanol filling the bilge
its jsut odd imo

How big is your tank? IF the tank was truly 1/4 and 51 gallons filled it...you must have about a 70 gallon tank.
Last year I replaced my sender and of course it was right after I had filled it, so I had 90 gallons of fuel in the tank...but luckily with the boat sitting on the trailer I could pull the inspection plate off and avoid sloshing any fuel out...something I would NOT have done if in the water.

A full tank should not be spilling if you take the sender out

Unless the fuel has filled up the filling hose a ways. Or tank is nose up with the sender on the stern end.

Electric pump?

Pull a fitting off post pump and fill a 5 gal jerry can to get the levels down a bit.

One of my trucks when I fill it up and top it off- the gage reads Empty until I burn some off. Not sure why but could be same here.

I was thinking
Back many moons
Its not to far out of possible that its over full
so sender is maxed
I know its full
So if it does not come back to normal
I will go to step 2 and open up the inspection plate
At least its easy to get to
