Rigging our Velocity 30 in the Uk.
the K plane tabs where set in line with hull. Boats I have raced before have had them horizontal to the water.
when using those tabs they lean the boat more. Rather than turn the boat and then lean like angled to the hull fitment
question is. Has anyone fitted horizontal to a Velocity? I’m quite tempted to run that way over how they where.

I have seen tabs mounted parallel to the water on a few 280's. One friend of mine went from the factory mountings to the parallel mounting when he had his transom replaced. As I recall from 20 years ago, he didn't feel a significant difference. While a 30' hull may react differently, my experience/history with Velocity is that Steve Stepp optimized the standard boat set up leaving the factory for most owners. Of course racing usage is different and often compromises usability with high x dimensions etc.

I am running higher X Dimension after speaking with Scott at Velocity.
when putting a tab down in this in its old set up with TRS and Speedmaster the tab would push in. Turn the boat. Then lean over.
others I have raced Phantom twin outboard and a dragon / wright 39 the tab sat down in the water. And didn’t turn.

That is peculiar especially for twin drive. I had a 320 (not the 322 which used the original 30' hull) with factory mounted tabs and when I lowered one tab, it leaned as expected (which is desirable) and pushed to the side a little but never changed direction (i.e. "turned"). Might reversing the prop directions (in vs. out or vice-a-versa ) help?

I've been told the thought be mounting them Horizontal to the water is less Tab dragging in the water... due to the way the water trails off the bottom of a (V).
The thought is more speed due to less Drag with less surface of the Tab in the water. Basically an edge of the tab is in the water instead of the full face of the tab in the water... Due to thoughts above.
As far as function and results...
I'm told its trivial... and really just comes down
personal preference and what (said) individual feels is best for his/her boat.
