It sounds like he no longer controls the trip, you get there on your own. Does that mean no helicopter, no safety boats, no pace boats (big savings for Stu). He likely can't get poker run insurance or it has simply become unaffordable. Remember someone died last year right outside Key West when a center console ran aground.
So now you have to wonder if the revenue side will plummet for FPC. If you are telling people they are on their own, why do they need to pay $1000 for the run, plus $200 per person for a T-shirt and a buffet dinner?
It also might be a harder sell for events. If he tells local community leaders he is having a group of powerboaters come to town to run around on their own without any guidance (or insurance) I'd bet they are less than thrilled.

Ya'll can tease Stu Jones as much as you like—he's a public figure in our world and that makes him fair game—but ...
This is a bell-weather for all organized boating events and something all organizers face. I am not a lawyer, but I am reasonably sure that nonprofit status does not shield any event organizer from liability.

The link from Powerboat Nation is dead. I only see outboard cats and scantily clad women (good combo) on the FPC website. No letter.
Was the letter taken down?
Stu should move to Europe where we still can have real poker runs.

I covered two in Sweden a few years back and they were incredible. As for the link, yes, that appears to be dead.
